The Guide
Personal Calendar, Weekly Planner & Travel Itinerary
My roleSole engineer — the whole application, written by hand with no framework and no build step.
The Problem
Calendar apps show appointments but not shape — what is protected, what is actually next, what the week looks like at a glance. The Guide renders the week as a programme schedule with a live now-line, carries unfinished tasks into the following week, and keeps working with no connection at all.
The Solution
A personal operating system for time, built as a single hand-written file. Five views: a concierge Today page, the week laid out like television programming across Work, Life, Wellness and Travel channels, a paper-style weekly list, local events, and day-by-day trip itineraries.
Features
- The week as television programming — four channels on a shared timeline with a red now-line
- Concierge Today view: On Now with a progress bar and leave-by, what’s protected, and what’s next
- Weekly list that inherits its groups, carries unfinished tasks forward, and resets habits each week
- Repeating events expanded on read rather than stored, so changing a series leaves no duplicates to clean up
- In-browser .ics export with real VTIMEZONE blocks, so multi-timezone flights stay correct
- Stable calendar event IDs, so re-importing updates events instead of duplicating them
- Checklist sharing over the Web Share API with newest-wins per-field merge
- Two themes from a single block of tokens, and offline support from a precaching service worker
- ~2,700 lines in one file: no framework, no dependencies, no build step
